Technical Information

A Technical Rider must be signed and returned by each venue on the tour. We also recommend that the venue tech manager talks directly to Richard's stage manager. Richard's stage manager for your event can be found in the Performance Dates section of this website under the relevant listing.

Sound

The show sound is run from am onstage sub-mixer. A stereo signal, containing the entire show mix, is then sent to the front of house system. For most venues Richard will arrive with his own foh sound equipment. No foldback is required unless requested. An in-house, lapel, radio mic is sometimes needed.

Lights & Projection

The show requires projection onto a large screen or cyclorama cloth. This is fed from an onstage i-mac via a VGA cable.  The show uses a number of lighting scenes and fx. An early discussion with Richard's stage manager is essential.

Below is a more detailed guide to lighting Richard's show -

It is important to note that projection is used throughout the show, and that Richard sits on a high gloss dance floor which is highly reflective.  The angles from which the stage is lit are therefore critical.

We use two lighting bars on stage.

A backlight bar consisting of 8 fresnels and one profile at centre. This provides four colour washes.   They are concentrated on Richard who sits DSC, so the instruments should not be too widely spaced along the bar.  These are coloured:

 Lee 105 (outside pair)  Lee 141,  Lee 104, and Lee 157 (inner pair)  Profile is in  201.

The second, the "pipe end" bar is in the usual No 1 bar position and consists of:

8 profiles plus one fresnel (in 201) at centre  The profiles, 4 aside and preferably zooms, should be as near the end of the bar as is convenient for focusing. They are focussed directly across stage so the bar should be about 50cms in advance of where Richard sits.  From the bar ends, colours in the profiles are Lee 103, Lee 118 Lee 121, and Lee 109.

On the floors we would also like a profile each side to serve as shinbusters. These are coloured in 201

From FOH we need:

Three profiles from centre  colored 109, 201 ,and 118;

Full FOH cover in 103 preferably with cover from auditorium L & R positions.

In addition we require two full stage covers in medium break up gobos in 118 and 104.  We would expect this to require  4 to 6 profiles depending on stage size.

There will also be one or two specials depending on programme on the day.

We generally plot about 15 states on submasters,  and fade them in as required.  We do tour some profiles of our own, with some gobos, colour etc. For the projector we also tour some 40m of VGA cable to supplement in-house provision if necessary.
